NaNoWriMo Week 3 Update

Hey book nerds! It’s week three of NaNoWriMo and it occurred to me I have not posted an update. Sorry! I’m so terrible at posting updates during challenges. I really need to work on that. Maybe I’ll include that in my bookish new year resolutions on the blog.

Anyway, so I’m finding myself a bit exhausted with my story at the moment. I’m thinking part of the problem is that I totally pantsed it. I decided at the last minute to participate so I had zero prep done for my story. I definitely need to set aside time to outline a bit before next November. Maybe do some character sheets and a story board. Visual stuff, because those bubble outline things make my head hurt and my eyes cross.

I didn’t get much writing done last weekend because Saturday was my birthday and I was busy. Now I’m behind on my word count. I know I’m so ashamed, but I’m hoping I can catch up this weekend. I do get a bit of writing time after work, but I usually use that time to blog.
What about you? Are any of you participating in NaNoWriMo? How in the world do you find time to write? I’m sacrificing sleep for it myself. That also could be why I’m so exhausted. Anyhow, I should get back to it. I’ll do my best to post another update soon. Until then here’s a sneak peek at what I’m up to:

Fire crawled up the walls of the observation room, licking the ceiling with flames bright orange and red. The door rocked on its hinges, and everything that could move was lifted off the floor and spun around the child like a tornado.

  1. The last minute decision had to be tough since that has the possibility of starting things off on a rather frantic note. But I love the snippet you shared! Makes me want to know what in the world is happening. And happy belated birthday! 🙂
