A Day in the Life of a Book Blogger

{A Day in the Life of a Book Blogger} C-c-c-changes to the blog!

Hey book nerds! So, I got crazy sick once New Year’s hit. Great way to bring in the year right? Ugh, it was exhausting. I didn’t even have the energy to read. Sad, I know. I did spend some time thinking about whether or not I wanted to continue the blog though. I don’t know if I’m the only one out there, but I’m starting to feel overwhelmed with the whole book reviewer/blogger business end of things. It’s to the point where I find myself not reading because I’ve lost my passion for it. It’s not fun anymore. I’ll be damned if being a book blogger makes me lose my love for reading!

Don’t worry though, I’m not quitting all together. I just need to remember why I decided to do this in the first place. So I’ve decided that I will no longer accept unsolicited review requests. Any books I review here on the blog will be books I purchased, was gifted by my peeps, borrowed from the library, or books I requested from NetGalley/Edelweiss or Google First Reads. I will no longer be participating in blog tours either.

I’m moving the blog in a new direction and shifting my focus to be more of a book blogger and less of a review blog (believe me there is a difference). Basically I will read what I want, when I want and I’ll review whatever the hell I want on my own schedule. I’m not going to stress it. I have enough stress going on with everyday life, and this blog should not add to it. This is supposed to be my outlet, my stress reliever.

I will continue with WAYRW, it is actually one of the few posts I’ve enjoyed doing the last few months. Especially, when I get to go to everyone’s blogs and take a peek at what you all are reading. Well that’s all I have to say for now. I need to go finish November 9 by Colleen Hoover. It’s really the perfect book to jump back into reading with because…wow just wow. I’m sure I’ll be done with it by the time this goes live. Anyway, I’ll gush about it later when I post a review and we can chat about it then.

Thanks for understanding! Love ya book nerds!

~Stay book nerdy & happy reading!

  1. It’s so great to see you are back. Sorry to hear you were sick. 😦 But I completely get where you are going about feeling a bit overloaded. Ever since my accident last month, I’ve been struggling to keep up.

I’m also really excited you’re keeping WAYRW! I’ve been doing it every week, because it’s one of my favorite ones, too.

    1. Thank you, Kristine. It’s a relief to know I’m not the only one that gets overwhelmed by review schedules. I’ve been going back and forth on my decision all month because I felt guilty about it. Then I was like why do I feel guilty? That’s just crazy lol
Yep the link up for this week’s WAYRW will go live at midnight. I can’t wait to see what everyone is reading 🙂

  2. So sorry to hear you were sick. Hope you’re completely over it by now. I think a lot of people are feeling the stress/pressure of reviews and blogging lately. I made a decision back in December that I was just so over the whole ARC thing. I want to spend 2016 reading what I want to read, when I want to read it. No pressure, no schedules. Just reading for fun. I had already committed to a couple reviews so I’m reading those books now. Once they’re out of the way – no more. I’m going to read every book that I’ve been excited about for so long but kept putting off because of ARCs. I sure hope your decision will make things easier for you and help you to enjoy reading and blogging again.

    1. Thanks Tanya 🙂
I am feeling much better now. I can’t seem to kick the lingering cough but other than that I’m good. I am thinking I will focus on the books on my shelf that I’ve been wanting to read or books from the library. I am going to really cut back on ARCs this year. I need to read and the review the ones on my Kindle, but I won’t be requesting new ones like I used to. I’m just so burned out from it all. I’m really hoping these changes will help.
