Book Review

{Book Review} The Trouble with Mistletoe (Heartbreaker Bay #2) by Jill Shalvis

Jill Shalvis is undoubtedly one of the best RomCom writers out there. Her books never fail to make me feel all kinds of FEELS! Her new release The Trouble with Mistletoe is no exception. This is the second book in her new Heartbreaker Bay series. I just love her characters and the way she mixes humor with heartfelt romances. The female MC, Willa Davis is one of those female characters that you wish you could hang out with in real life. She’s sweet, independent, and overall such a happy animal lover. Her romantic interest, Keane is funny, sweet and completely swoon worthy. Combine all of that with an abundance of holiday cheer and this is the perfect read for the holiday season.

The chemistry between Willa and Keane is undeniable. No matter how hard Willa tries to resist it. Willa’s reluctance mainly comes from a shared past that Keane has absolutely no recollection of which just makes the situation even more awkward. I loved that, although there was instant chemistry and tension between these two, this is a slow building romance. Willa is determined to keep Keane at a distance. His charm and caring ways toward others eventually softens her heart, and well the story goes from there. These two share more than just a mutual attraction, there is friendship, respect, and love. However, their road to HEA is not entirely smooth, both Willa and Keane have many issues left over from less than stellar childhoods to work through before they can trust enough to open up to another.

“I really am all sorts of messed up…”

“Well you’re not alone there.”

Shalvis is well known for her heartfelt romances. She is definitely my go-to author when I want to read a “feel good” book. The Trouble with Mistletoe is the perfect holiday read. I loved Willa and Keane’s story and I can’t wait to read more of the series. I’d recommend this to romance lovers that enjoy love stories with tons of humor, FEELS, and great characters. I loved it!
