Book Haul, Memes

Stacking the Shelves | May 2018

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Hey book nerds! I’m thinking I’m just going to do my monthly hauls here on the blog instead on my booktube channel. I don’t like to read the descriptions of my books before I read them so I don’t have much I can talk about the books in a haul video.  I figure this way I can still share my new books and link up the Goodreads pages in case you want more information.

Let’s get started! I will link to the Goodreads page for each book below as well in case you want to check them out.

Kindle Book Sales:

Aru Shah and the End of Time (Pandava Quartet #1) by Roshani Chokshi – I loved Chokshi’s Star-Touched series. I’m hoping I will love her new middle-grade series as well.

Judgment Road (Torpedo Ink #1) by Christine Feehan – I’ve been a fan of Feehan’s writing for a while now. I read Dark Prince and that just took me down the Carpathian rabbit hole. When I saw she had a new series I knew I had to give it a try.

From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata – Nobody writes slow burn romances like Zapata does. I love reading her books because I know I’m in for one heck of an emotional and explosive romance.

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman – I hear wonderful things about this book that I couldn’t pass it up when I saw it on sale for Kindle.

The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan – This is YA fiction/magical realism. I’m currently reading this one on my Kindle and I’m about halfway through it. I set it aside for Borrowathon and haven’t picked it up back up again. I really need to because I was enjoying it.

A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers – This is book two in the Wayfayer series. I already have book one on my Kindle and I have not read it yet. Some of my booktube friends really love this series though so I decided to give it a go to see if I like it too.

The Trials of Apollo (Books 1-3) by Rick Riordan – You know how much I love books based on mythology and well anything written by Rick Riordan. He’s an auto-buy author for me.

Matchmaking for Beginners by Maddie Dawson – I’m in the mood for cute fluffy contemporary/romantic comedy and this one had a cute cover. Plus it was on sale so why not?

Physical Books:

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli – Leah was one of my favorite side characters in Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (also in this haul). I’m so excited for her to have her own book. I keep hearing next reviews on it though so I’m hoping I will love it like I did Simon.

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Beck Albertalli – I read and loved this one but somehow have never purchased a copy for myself. I’m so happy to finally own a copy and I can’t wait to read it again.

Obsidio (The Illuminae Files #3) by Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff – This is one of my most anticipated releases for 2018 and I cannot wait to finally read it. I loved the first two books and I’m hoping this will be a great ending to the series.

NetGalley/Edelweiss Review Galleys:

The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager – I like Final Girls by Riley Sager but I didn’t love it. However, I saw a lot of potential in Sager’s writing and I’m excited to see if this latest book will be a better fit for me.

Giant Days by Non Pratt – A book based on a graphic novel series that I love? Yas! Sign me up please ❤

The Shortest Way Home by Miriam Parker – I requested this one because the cover gave me summer read feels and I was looking for a good heartfelt contemporary to sink my booknerdself into. I know absolutely nothing about the book other than it is categorized as Women’s Fiction.

With You Always by Rena Olsen – This is a mystery/thriller about a relationship gone wrong. The cover is what caught my eye on this one.

And the Ocean Was Our Sky by Patrick Ness, Rovina Cai (Illustrator) – Okay, I know Patrick Ness is hit or miss for me. I will forever pickup his books though in the hopes that I will find another experience like the emotional gut punch I got from reading A Monster Calls. It hasn’t happened yet. I keeping hoping for it though and I am determined to find it. Fingers-crossed!

BOTM Subscription Box:
The Perfect Mother by Aimee Molloy – This mystery thriller has such a beautiful cover. Plus, it gives me Big Little Lies vibes and I heard it is going to be a movie soon starring Kerry Washington.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – I cannot go anywhere on the online bookish community without hearing people rave about this book. I am both excited and terrified to read it. Overly hyped books just intimidate the heck out of me. I really hope it lives up to what people have been saying.

That my friends is it for my May 2018 book haul. The majority of the books added to my TBR are eBooks or audio books. That isn’t that bad right? Of course, this does not include the large haul of library books I borrowed in May.
Let’s chat down below in the comments! What books have you added to your tbr recently?

As always keep on reading and stay book nerdy my friends!
