Reading Challenges

Goodreads Want to Read List | Read it or Delete it #2

Hey book nerds! I was inspired to start this project by Lala from BooksandLala on Booktube. Last year she tackled a year-long project of culling her closet of TBR books. I’m pretty happy with how my physical TBR stands though, so I am not looking to do that exactly. I would like to clean up my Want to Read list on Goodreads though so I figure I’d make that the goal of my project instead.

I’m so sorry I meant to post this at the beginning of the month but life happened. I did move forward with picking my books for June though so hopefully I’ll get that updated the first week of July for you. Before I share my picks for June though, let’s talk about how May went.

Here is a quick refresher of the books I picked for May. Check out the little blurbs following each title to see my results.

  1. The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis – I ran out of time and didn’t get to this one. I am making this my save since I do own the bind up.
  2. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger – Did not read it and I am deleting it.
  3. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck – I found out after searching my shelves that I actually own a different Steinbeck so I didn’t get around to reading this one. I will go ahead and delete it off the list. If I decide to pick it up again I’ll just add it to my currently reading shelf when I read it.
  4. Things We Know by Heart Jessi Kirby – I read this one! This is a heavy hitting YA contemporary that follows 18 year old Quinn Sullivan that is grieving the loss of her first love. She decides to work through her grief by meeting all the organ recipients of her deceased boyfriend. All but one of the donor recipients agree to meet her; the boy that got her boyfriend’s heart. Instead of respecting the boy’s wishes, Quinn takes it upon herself to find out the identity of the boy, stalk him online and then eventually insert herself into his life. The two meet and then romance ensues. Ahhh I had issues with this one. I thought it was an emotional read but I’m not on board with romances that start out with stalker behavior. I get why she did it, but I wish the story hadn’t gone that route. I rated it β˜…β˜….
  5. Extraordinary Means by Robyn Schneider – I started it and DNF’d it about 18% through because I was bored. Deleting it off the list.
  6. Liars, Inc by Paula Stokes – I started it and DNF’d it about 15% into it because I got distracted by other things. Deleting it off the list.

Let’s move on to the June picks!

  1. Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch – This is the second book in a YA fantasy series. Funnily enough I had already planned on picking up this book as soon as my hold for the audio book came in from the library. I just received my hold through my Libby app so this is kind of perfect.
  2. The Young Elites by Marie Lu – I’ve had this book on my TBR shelf since it was first released. I loved Prodigy by Marie Lu and I knew I wanted to read more by her but for one reason or another I have not picked up The Young Elites. Hopefully this will be my motivation to do so.
  3. Shattered Blue (The Light #1) by Lauren Bird Horowitz – I honestly don’t remember what this book is about but I did receive it for review last year. It is one of the books on my ARC backlog that I need to get around to. Maybe for COYER?
  4. How to Be Brave by E. Katherine Kottaras – Same with this one. I think this is a YA contemporary.
  5. Don’t Get Me Wrong by Marianne Kavanagh – This is women’s fiction, I think. I saw it being recommended for fans of JoJo Moyes on Goodreads so that doesn’t bode well. This is another book off of my ARC backlog.
  6. Dreamstrider by Lindsay Smith – This is a YA sci-fi/fantasy set in the dreamworld, I think. I don’t remember much, but I love the cover. Whether I get to this one will depend on whether I can get it from my library.

That’s it for my June picks. I don’t know how many of these I’ll manage to get through. I hope I can at least get to three of them. Have you read any of these books? Which would you recommend I start with? Let me know down below in the comments section.

As always keep on reading and stay book nerdy my friends!
