My Week In A Nutshell

My Week In A Nutshell 10/26/18

TGIF friends! I hope you are all having a fantastic start to your weekend. I’m working from home today so this introvert is very happy. I was able to finally get caught up at work so I’m going into my weekend feeling pretty relaxed which is something that hasn’t happened for a while. This week I’ve been doing my best to catch up with the Blog Ahead challenge.  I know any posts scheduled ahead makes a win and all. I just really want to achieve my goal of 30 posts at least once. So I’ve been blogging away like mad. I’m really excited about the posts I’ve been working on to go live on the blog. I hope you enjoy the upcoming content I have scheduled for November and December.

Aside from work and blogging, I watched some Netflix and read some books. Some of it I loved and some not so much. Let’s get into the wrap up for this week, shall we?

Books Read:

I finally finished it! I was very close to DNFing this book. It just dragged so much for me. I don’t mind having symbolism in a book but damn there was so much of it. Also, every emotion had a color that was linked to it and that ended up being repetitive. I could have ignored how those two things kept me from enjoying the book if I had found at least one character that interested me. They were all pretty dull though so that didn’t happen. Unfortunately, this book was just not for me. Which makes me sad because I really wanted to love it. I rated it 2 stars.

Ah, where to start with this one. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. The half of this book pretty much saved it for me. I struggled so hard with the beginning. You would think by the third book in the series there would be less of the setting things up and more action instead. I’m quite happy that certain characters died. They were not my favorites and one of them I found very annoying. After that particular chapter, I flew through the rest of the book. I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Roy Dotrice via my Libby app. Dotrice did an excellent job narrating this beast of a book. I rate the narration at 5 stars and the book at 4 stars.

This was one of my most anticipated releases for October. I’m so freaking happy I was able to check out the audiobook via my Hoopla app. This was narrated by Reba Buhr. A City of Ghosts is a middle-grade horror story by the lovely Victoria Schwab. It follows a girl named Cass who has been gifted with the ability to see ghosts. That’s all I’m going to say for now because I wrote a review for this one that should be going live on the blog soon. I rated it 5 stars. I loved it!

Books Currently Reading: I’m currently in the middle of these 6 books.

This week on the blog:

Things were a bit slow again this week. Most of the posts I’ve been working on for Blog Ahead will not go live on the blog until November/December. I did manage a few scheduled for this week so here are the posts I’ve managed to get up on the blog.

Checked Out | October 2018

#ReadYourFaceOff Book Club | November 2018

This week I watched:

I watched the entire season of The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. If I compare it to the book then I’d have to rate it 2 stars because it did not stay true to the original story at all. If I rate it on its own merit then I’d have to go with a 3. It was okay, there were some creepy parts that were obviously put in to scare the viewer. However, the plot was pretty average. Nothing spectacular to deserve all the hype it is getting by any means. Sorry, not sorry that’s my opinion.

I started watching the original Charmed series again. Netflix has all the season available for streaming. I’m almost done with the first season. I love this show so much. I still have not watched the reboot. I’m so scared it won’t give me the same FEELS that the original does. Have you watched it? Does it hold up to the original? Please let me know.

This is the last weekend in October. Crazy right? I don’t have much planned at this moment. I really want to go see the new Halloween movie that came out. I’m a fan of both the Halloween and Friday the 13th franchises. I find them both more hilarious than scary. I used to have extended cable and I would watch the Halloween marathons during October. I’m totally missing it this year.

That’s it for this week’s My Week In A Nutshell. How did your week go? Have you read any of the books I featured in today’s post? What are you currently watching on tv? What’s the last movie you watched? Let’s chat down below in the comments.

As always keep on reading and stay book nerdy my friends!
